Festival Season Is Here!

Summer is in full swing, and there’s no better time to celebrate community, culture, and live entertainment than during festival season. Whether you’re a fan of music, food, crafts, or simply soaking up that electric atmosphere, Donegal has something special lined up for you over the coming weeks. Here are three festivals you won’t want to miss:

  1. Rathmullan Festival (1st–4th August)
Nestled on the shores of Lough Swilly, Rathmullan comes alive with music, heritage walks, family activities, and local food stalls. From acoustic sets at the historic priory to twilight beach gatherings, there’s fun for all ages.

  2. Downings Festival (1st–4th August)
Just up the coast, Downings Festival offers a perfect blend of traditional tunes and contemporary acts. Catch Céilí dances, sea-side street performances, artisan markets, and plenty of craic by the water from the very first of August.

  3. Fanad Festival (4th–6th August)
Wrapping up festival season in style, Fanad Festival kicks off on the 4th. Enjoy breathtaking cliff-top concerts, storytelling sessions around a bonfire, guided coastal hikes, and local seafood feasts through to the 6th.

With three fantastic festivals running back-to-back—Rathmullan and Downings both from 1st to 4th August, and Fanad from 4th to 6th August—there’s an unmissable week (and a bit!) of events to plan for. Pack your festival gear, rally your friends and family, and get ready to make lasting memories under the Donegal sky!
